‘Wildflower Meadow’

Riding back home through Peckham I came across a huge bed of sunflowers in Peckham Rye Park; someone has clearly put effort into caring for these which got me thinking.

Why do the areas with the worst reputations often feel to have the strongest sense of community? People in Peckham high-street were calling across the road to say hello to one another, local shops have regular customers who are known by name, yesterday there was even a free stone-carving course outside the library, not to mention the singing in the streets…!
