Anticipating delays, cancellations, queues and frustration on the trains, we left super early to get to Dad’s. In fact, we jumped onto a train only minutes after picking up our tickets and got to Birmingham before 8 o’clock! Dad claimed we hadn’t woke him but his unruly hair suggested otherwise.

There was still a lot of snow on the ground and the surrounding countryside looked really beautiful so we went for a short walk through the fields.
