Yohji Yamamoto V&A

In our earlier post here we spoke about Yohji Yamamoto’s book and exhibition at the V&A which we finally got to see in depth yesterday. The main show was good and there was a jacket displayed that Atsuko bought at a Yohji sale in Tokyo years ago and still has in her wardrobe. The pieces scattered around the rest of the V&A were more fun to find and photograph. They had hidden outfits deep in the V&A costume, ceramic and tapestry collections to force a little exploration in visaitors which worked well, we saw amazing parts of the gallery we never knew existed.

It was a real struggle to photograph some of these as they were displayed in a very dark room which added to the drama. I think I made a lot of progress through trial and error, and patience as I waited to find clear spots in the crowds of people. I am very pleased with the results…
