East Berlin Gallery

In another part of this massive city, a third section of wall remains, this one the longest at 1.3km. Over 100 artists were commissioned to paint messages of freedom and hope on the wall but it has been restored since its original completion in 1990 because, this being Berlin , the full length of art was completely covered in additional graffiti. Quite a few artists refused to re-paint their work but the whole gallery stands today almost completely clean.

My favourite section was the huge face of Andrej Sacharow, I wish we could have stayed longer to take more photographs of people interacting with the works.
