Fukahori Riusuke

We stood in the cold for over an hour this afternoon, watching the wonderful Fukahori Riusuke paint a huge colourful goldfish onto the window of the ICN gallery. It was almost moving, to watch him work, building up layers of colour and highlight to compose the body of a beautiful goldfish. A final, almost calligraphy-like flourish (with a broom) completed the tail. Honestly, the photos can never do the event justice, it was a pleasure to hear him talk with such humility and watch him work with such speed and elegance.

See our previous post for pictures of the exhibition inside…

    • Hello, thanks for the lovely comment! In the last year I have been using a Canon 550D (before that a simple tiny Lumix) and for the ICN event was shooting with Canon 50mm f1.8 and Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 lenses. Are you in the pictures?? Hope you don’t mind them being here, let me know. Was a great exhibition wasn’t it? I am already looking forward to the next ICN opening in the new year, can hardly wait! Maybe I will see you there?

Brilliant work. Thanks for blogging on this.
To continue the talk on the nice photos you captured, they do have some excellent color processing. Are these straight out of camera or do you process them again to carry on some vignetting or stuff like that

    • These days I use Lightroom, although this particular set was not adjusted too heavily at all. I’m not trained in photography, but I do use Adobe software for my work so once the photo is composed and the moment captured on the camera, I can play a little further on the mac. For me its part of the fun. : )
