EVOL Smithfield

I walked past these today and almost didn’t notice them. The concrete blocks have been restricting access to one end of Smithfield market for quite some time now but a couple of months months ago, German artist EVOL turned them into tower blocks with some brilliantly intricate stencil and pasting work. Street artists playing with scale in this way frequently make me smile, Pablo Delgado was similar in this way. I particularly liked the tiny graffiti tags.

I have been looking around online and other people have some really nice pictures of construction workers sitting on the buildings taking their cigarette breaks. I might well return…
