England, Japan

A single year has passed since the terrible events in north-east Japan. We recently watched an incredibly moving documentary by the BBC, Children of the Tsunami, and have been reading articles online; the footage is no less shocking, even after all this time. There is still much to be done and I imagine the wounds will never completely heal but it really is unbelievable how Japan has coped in times of such incredible hardship.

Photos on Boston.com’s Big Picture (click here) are awfully sad but I think also show fantastic progress and determination, the clean-up operations have been phenomenal. (Click on each picture to see the same area a year ago…)

We were out early this morning and came across this beautiful lone sakura tree in the city centre. Spring is on the way in London.
