It’s been so long, I’ve almost forgotten how do do this…! Since getting back from Japan late last Sunday and starting back Monday morning, the working week has been a bit of a struggle. This weekend we have finally had a proper rest and I’ve started going through the photos from our fantastic 3-weeks away. We have so much to share with you.
This time we didn’t even visit Tokyo. The first week was just the two of us travelling around Kyoto, before two wonderful weeks with our family in Shimane. Kyoto is somewhere we had both been before, but in separate lives, so coming here together for the first time was a real joy. Atsuko had found a beautiful Japanese-style room within walking distance of the city centre and Gion so we spent the first day wandering and exploring. Yasaka-Jinja was the kind of laid back, community shrine that made us feel so so happy to be back in Japan…
Love the color on a cold winter’s day. Thank you for sharing places I will never be. Your images are memorable again!
It really was chilly actually, thanks for noticing. Actually I feel like my pictures got a little better as the trip went on, so please check back for more soon! : )
Wow, I wanna go so bad….. Beautiful shots!
thank you!
It’s been great to follow your trip, going back to this beginning post! You bring back many great memories of Kyoto 🙂
thanks for the kind comment! if you have particular interest in the Japan posts, there is a Japan category heading on the right hand side. Click this to see past trip photographs too! : )
Beautiful pictures! I really like #5 with the city scape outside the temple gate. The one of the two old guys chatting is so candid and charming!
Thank-you, yes I like that one of the two men chatting very much too. The shrine had a really happy community feel, it was being used by many locals who all seemed to have made it a part of their regular, daily routine.
